History:
In the time that she has been living, Harriet has seen a lot of changes in her life. She was born into the noble house of Narenwin, which was once one of the higher ranked Korin houses. Her family was haughty for the most part; for generations they were known for being influential, spreading dissent among the lesser houses. They were known for their great dislike of the ruling monarchy, as they felt that they had squandered their right to rule over the lesser houses. Due to conflict, the house was dissolved some thirty-five years ago.
Quite a few years have passed since she has become the school librarian, and there are only a few people who remember the strict, proper, yet personable headmistress and can place her to the prickly, cranky librarian who only seems to care about the state in which her books are returned.
She barely found reason to leave the school, though she does still have her pegasus stabled, the only being which she really seems to care about, aside from her cats. Though she always makes sure that the students aren't aware of her when she goes out for a ride, or to care for the animal. She's rather disappointed with the way students behave these days, and will voice her opinion on that matter, being rather disapproving, if they happen to be misbehaving in her presence.
Harriet usually spent her time mostly working on her novel, though she doesn't really intend to publish it, and is fairly proficient with most languages, though she hasn't bothered with all of them.
During the winter, the school was closed, as it usually is, and her library was being renovated, to her dismay. On a trip to go inspect it, she and her pegasus were caught in a terrible crosswind, knocking her off and landing her in bed for well over a month, with a fractured hip and a terrible cold.
Lady Eve sent a pegasus knight named Lara to stay with her at home. After recovering to a point where she could at least walk around again (and gain amusement from her walking stick), she returned to Rayla at the request of Lord Edgard (in a roundabout way), to assist with training the recruits. She is just as distraught by his death as everyone else, even if she doesn't show it.
Now fully recovered, she plans to return to the library... eventually. Though training the recruits is an amusing task, and she somehow sees it as her duty to see Lady Eve married. Don't ask. Even though she doesn't seem to have an official title around Rayla castle, she seems to be once again getting involved in the politics that she detests so much, to her eternal chagrin.
Personality:
Harriet is quite the prickly and anti-social woman. While she once was socialable and charming, her personality changed a bit drastically after the disastrous collapse of her noble house. She is a private person, and prefers to keep to herself, as well preferring the written word to the spoken one, if any words are to be exchanged at all, though the situation with the journals was not quite what she had in mind.
These days even the students rarely get a smile from her, as she has lost much faith in society, unless they are the ones who are very careful with her books, and/or bright and promising. Overly social people tend to rub her the wrong way, even if they are friendly enough. She seems to believe that most of the world has forgotten that she exists, and she's quite fine with that.
Now that time has passed, she seems more amused with the her current situation, even if she's still her usual prickly self.
Appearance:
While she was actually quite gorgeous, in her youth, and was considered quite the beauty, it's fair to say that she still retains at least some of her former grace even if she's somewhat shorter and a little rounder than she'd like to admit, and her habits of drinking haven't helped her maintain it at all; she simply stopped caring, and it is what it is. Though with her recent endeavors at training the recruits, she has proven that she is still quite dexterious.
Her hair is long, somewhat wavy, and pale silver in shade, and her eyes are sharp as ever, and a pale shade of violet-blue. She has a few wrinkles, lines of experience, though it is not so severe when she smiles.
